Francine Houben

Francine Houben, creative director Mecanoo architecten, leads the firm to success in The Netherlands and abroad, amassing a portfolio of work that is wide-ranging, inspired by global challenges and with a sustainable view on society. Notable projects include the Delft University of Technology Campus and the Library of Birmingham. Her work has received international critical acclaim, each project illustrating the three fundamental elements of her architectural vision: people, place, purpose. She currently leads the revitalization of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington DC and is this year’s recipient of the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Prize for her oeuvre.
